English Shepherds at AppleYard
The English Shepherd is the world's generic dog. These guys have been around for hundreds of years and yet few can identify them by their breed name. For generations the English Shepherd has just been known as"old Shep" or the "Farm Collie". The pup who hangs out with the kids.
The AppleYard Shepherds have been bred from a line of dogs who's ancestry harkens from all across the continental U.S.
Imported Dams and sires selected from experienced professional breeders. From the Great Northeast, to Cajun Louisiana, to great sprawling Texas, the finest bloodlines available today
These farm collies are everymans' dog. They love kids and are extremely intelligent. A very gentle dog bred for waiting outside the cottage while watching over things. And, always at the ready to bring home the cows, romp with the kids or guard the mistress while the master is away.
Why choose an English Shepherd for the family pet you might ask? Because it is both myopic and silly to select a breed based solely on its appearance and popularity. If you are going to be happy with your dog well after puppyhood, then make your selection based on the breed's intelligence and compatibility.

When I was a boy, some seventy odd years ago, our family "Shep" was a typical old time super dog. Mother didn't think twice about leaving my brother and me in the care of Shep when she ran out to the store for a few items. She was secure in knowing that no way was it possible for my brother or I to get past old Shep and out of the yard. Shep could herd cows or children with an ability that was pretty much taken for granted in those days. Much like his ability to snooze on the front porch ever ready to pass judgement on all those approaching the family domain. Just plain old Shep, the family dog, guardian and true companion to all within. Much like the classic "Lassie", a dog who will provide family folklore for the grand kids and generations to come.
