AppleYard Mini's are great little critters. Fun to watch and be with. There is a never ending joy to watching their antics as they play and frolic about the yard. Something about their disposition makes them always ready to greet you, and their natual curiosity turns daily chores into a circus of jolly events. I keep mine close to the house so I can observe them from my window.
I seem to enjoy the best of two worlds having decided on keeping Mini-Nubian goats. I not only have the on-going enjoyment of a few wonderful and attentive pets, but the girls also produce just the right amount of rich, sweet milk for the household. In fact, the finest tasting milk I have ever experienced that also makes for the most delectable cheese this side of Wisconsin. My girls each give from two to three quarts of milk every day. As an added bonus, you can always expect twins or triplets each year to either add to your herd, or sell for a profit.
Another great advantage in keeping Mini-Nubians is that if you don't care to, or don't have room for a buck, the little does fit nicely into the back seat of your car so that you can carry them off to be bred when they come in season.
Because the temperament of this little goat is so sweet and gentle, they are by nature very tolerent of each to the other, as well as toward all things great and small. Chicks that have been hatched in my yard quickly learn as teen-agers there is great sport in riding about perched on the back of one of the goats. All of the chickens in the yard know they are always welcome at the goats table to share a meal.
